I currently research, develop, design, adapt and facilitate Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy/Training (MBCT) programmes for specific populations & settings. The programmes currently include the following:
1. High Performance: athletes/sports persons & teams, creative performers, workplace teams and organisations.
2. MBCT clinical programmes specifically for young people & their carers (in collaboration with leading NHS/University centres) and adult programmes for depression.
The high performance programme design is for athletes/sports persons, creative performers & workplace professionals.The programme has been delivered in university sports, professional golf, professional road cycling, a Paralympic squad, public sector organisations and creative industries.
Since 2011 I have participated in the research and development of a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy programme for young people and their carers with depression and anxiety (NHS). The research project has received funding from the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR)
The MBCT research I am in engaged with has been published in peer reviewed journals (featured on my LinkedIn account). I was invited to present as an expert witness for the All Party Parliamentary Mindful Nation Report UK (2015). I have presented at national and international conferences.
I worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (NHS) for 30 years. My role included: providing community based supportive individual & family psychological therapy, working in the Family Therapy, group therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Teams.
I work at the University of Exeter as an MBCT Therapist & Associate Lecturer, and for a charity for bereaved children and young people.
I am registered with the British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches
(www.bamba.org.uk) and as a Registered Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing Midwifery Council (https://www.nmc.org.uk/).
I provide supervision to Mindfulness Based therapists/trainers & programme developers.
As part of my continuing professional development I receive regular supervision and maintain relevant training.
