Katie Clark Sport Psychology

I am a passionate and driven individual with an aim of ensuring athletes receive effective support that allows them to continuously progress towards achieving their goals. I believe in supporting athletes as a whole, with a holistic approach in order to help athletes reach their optimal potential within their sport and personal life.
I am currently enrolled on the Sport and Exercise Psychology Accreditation Route (SEPAR), looking to develop as a practitioner and become HCPC accredited. Throughout this accreditation route I am supported by qualified sport psychologists, who are there to supervise my ongoing training, and offer developmental support.
Throughout my three years at Coventry University and one year at Staffordshire University, I carried out research investigating a variety of areas within sport psychology. During my undergraduate degree, my research consisted of investigating athletic identity, injury and well-being amongst athletes, which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the influence these factors may have on one another and an athletes overall performance. More recently, for my postgraduate research project, I was able to investigate 'The Effectiveness of Imagery Assisted Virtual Reality on Performance and Imagery Ability in a Target Shooting Task' . This research sparked my interest in incorporating technology into the implementation of psychological skills interventions with football players, with results offering promising findings that suggested imagery assisted virtual reality to be an optimal method for producing performance improvements in target shooting tasks, whilst also enhancing imagery ability.
Growing up I competed in field hockey and participated in gymnastics and dance, these experiences have provided me with an awareness of the demands and pressures associated with both team sports and individual aesthetic sports. I believe this knowledge from personal experiences, along with my interests in professional ice hockey, motorsports, American football, rugby and football, allows me to be of support to a number of different athletes.
Experience:
- Currently working at Stoke City FC within the Ladies RTC providing support to players, coaches and other stakeholders
- Previously spent time shadowing gymnast coaches and supporting young squad level gymnasts
- Visiting lecturer at Coventry University providing support in workshops, practical sessions and assignment marking within both sport psychology and sport coaching courses
I offer both 1-2-1 sessions and group workshops and would love for you to get in touch if you are seeking support.
Thanks
Katie
